Translational application of Canine Placenta-derived Mesenchymal Stem/Stromal Cell Extracellular Vesicles In Spinal Cord Injury

Cellular based therapy is a new and promising approach to neurovegetative diseases and injuries. Specifically, Extracellular vesicles (EVs) secreted by mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can potentially identify and treat spinal cord injury (SCI). To explore and interpret these properties, the Isolation, and characterization of EVs from different biofluids within the body of SCI patients can potentially expose distinguishing factors of SCI related EVs. This study highlights the efficacy of using Tangential Flow Filtration and Size Exclusion Chromatography when isolating EVs compared to other isolation methods.

To explore the function of EVs as a therapy for SCI, understanding their travel within the body using radioactive labeling can provide information on ideal injection sites. Optimization of Radioactive Labeling EVs can provide an enhanced understanding and a better visual of where the EVs travel within the body.
